Job Title: Organ Recovery Surgeon

DCI Donor Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Organ Recovery Surgeon to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in the clinical, operational, and research activities of our donor services program.

Responsibilities:
  • Surgically recover abdominal organs for transplantation and research in donor hospitals throughout our service area.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities as required to ensure adequate coverage for donor activity and be available to surgically recover organs at the specified time.
  • Support compliance with CMS and UNOS regulations and AOPO standards, as well as other medical and legal requirements.
  • Provide education and training to OPO staff and hospital personnel involved in the donation process.
  • Serve as an advisor between our organization and hospital staff when organ procurement is in progress.
Requirements:
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified in general surgery with a current licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience in organ recovery and transplantation, medical management of organ donors, and/or in critical care.
  • Availability for weekdays and weekends of donor recovery call (number of call days to be determined).
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact with all management, supervisors, and staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
