Job Description and Duties

California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking a highly skilled Attorney III to join our Office of Legal Affairs. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal advice and representation to the Receiver appointed by the United States District Court in the case of Plata v. Newsom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level legal advice and representation on sensitive and complex matters
  • Represent CCHCS in litigation before state and federal courts
  • Develop, review, and interpret legislation, rules, and regulations
  • Advise on broad or specialized areas of law related to the powers, functions, obligations, operations, and transactions of the federal court's receivership
Working Conditions:

Our office is located in Elk Grove, California, and offers a great mix of newly developed housing, business projects, and recreational opportunities. Telework is available for employees who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely.

Requirements:
  • Must possess the minimum qualifications for the position
  • Must submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting and Tuberculosis (TB) testing prior to appointment
  • Must provide unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification of education
