Position: Kids Community Group Teacher


Employment Status: Non-Exempt


Weekly Commitment: 4 hours


Compensation: $25 per hour


Role Summary
The Kids Community Group Teacher collaborates with the Elementary Manager and the Children's Ministry Director to guide a group of elementary students during our Kids Community Group sessions. The role involves working on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with an additional hour allocated for preparation at home. All lesson plans will be provided by the Elementary Manager, eliminating the need for weekly lesson planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review lesson plans in advance to ensure preparedness.
  • Deliver lessons that are centered around gospel teachings and biblical principles.
  • Employ diverse classroom management techniques to enhance learning.
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning the classroom environment.
  • Lead volunteers effectively to create a safe and engaging atmosphere for learning.
  • Participate in group activities, which may include skits and games.

Professional Development
Engage in all required training sessions throughout the school year, including volunteer and anti-harassment training, typically held on Sundays after services. Build relationships with parents during drop-off and pick-up times, and maintain open communication with the Elementary Manager to enhance class experiences and lesson effectiveness.


Managerial Feedback
Adapt teaching methods based on constructive feedback from the manager and the evolving needs of the students.


Qualifications
Demonstrated alignment with Redeemer's vision for serving New York City, a gospel-centered approach to serving families and youth, a commitment to the Reformed faith's theology and traditions, prior experience in teaching or caring for elementary-aged children, and the ability to maintain professionalism and composure in challenging situations.
