Position Overview

POSITION TITLE: AIDE



QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.


Must hold a classification title in the employment category or fulfill the job title definition as per relevant educational codes.

Demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively perform the duties of the role.

REPORTS TO: Principal and Supervising Educators

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of concepts and skills initially presented by the educator.
  • Facilitate independent study, enrichment activities, learning centers, etc., as directed by the educator.
  • Monitor individual activities and learning centers assigned by the educator.
  • Assist the educator in developing tailored strategies for reinforcing learning based on each student's unique needs, interests, and abilities, as planned by the educator.
  • Guide students in the use of equipment and/or instructional materials assigned by the educator.
  • Assist students with meals, snacks, personal needs, clean-up routines, hygiene, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and operate specialized equipment under the guidance of the educator and/or healthcare professional.
  • Support supervision of students during recess and field excursions.
  • Aid the educator in the preparation of activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by the educator for the effective operation of the program.
  • Ability to relate to and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
  • Assist with student behavioral challenges as assigned.
