Position Overview
As a vital member of our organization, the Liability Claims Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing mid- to high-level general liability claims. This position is centered around ensuring that claims are adjudicated in accordance with industry standards and best practices while also identifying opportunities for subrogation and negotiating settlements.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage mid-level general liability claims by collecting necessary information to assess liability exposure.
- Assign reserve values to claims and process payments as needed, ensuring settlements are made within the designated authority level.
- Conduct thorough assessments of liability and work towards resolving claims efficiently.
- Approve and process assigned claims, determining the benefits due while adhering to the action plan established for each claim.
- Oversee the subrogation process and negotiate settlements to optimize recovery.
- Maintain clear communication regarding claim actions with all relevant parties.
- Ensure all claim files are meticulously documented and that claims coding is accurate.
- Handle complex medical claims, including those requiring state and physician filings.
- Foster and maintain professional relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and trust.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of four years in claims management or a related field is required.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of insurance principles and regulations pertinent to the line of business.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Strong analytical and interpretive abilities.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to meeting or exceeding service expectations.
Work Environment
This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel as needed.
