A Day in the Life of a Med Surg Float Pool Registered Nurse

As a Med Surg Float Pool Registered Nurse at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include performing patient assessments, developing individualized plans of care, and implementing and evaluating care plans.

You will also consult and collaborate with the care team to develop, evaluate, and revise plans of care, administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy, and delegate tasks to non-licensed staff as needed. Additionally, you will provide pre- and post-operative patient care, educate patients and families on care and treatments, and facilitate discharge plans.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have at least 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) and hold a current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. You should also possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and NIHSS certification. ACLS certification is preferred.
