About the Role:

The Fleet Technician is a critical member of our team, responsible for performing repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles and related equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor and major repairs, preventative maintenance, and repair diagnostics to county vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose and perform minor repairs to vehicle and equipment systems.
  • Service engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, braking systems, climate control systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Use precision instruments to determine working clearances on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Input information into computer, database, or related software to maintain records.
  • Assist staff with physical inventory of equipment, parts, supplies, and tools.
  • Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Successful completion of an approved vocational school or technical training program.
  • EPA-approved Section 609 Certification.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, or equipment.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, or equipment, with four (4) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications.
  • Six (6) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, or equipment, with a Master ASE Certification in Auto/Light Truck, Medium/Heavy Truck, or Transit Bus.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for frequent and extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry 75-lbs.
  • Ability to work in adverse or extreme weather conditions.
