Job Summary

MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is seeking a skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our dynamic cardiothoracic surgery team in Florence, SC. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care, case management, and practice development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including postoperative cardiac and thoracic patients on hospital wards.
  • Interact with attending physicians, residents, and medical students to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Assist in evaluating patients in the cardiac surgery clinic, assessing operative candidacy, and selecting appropriate operations.
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations, evaluate and treat patients based on diagnostic test results, and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement activities, clinical research, and accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
  • Collaborate with the attending physician or collaborating physician to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and current licensure as an APRN.
  • AGACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) or ACNP certification.
  • Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) Certification to first or second assist in the operating room.
  • Current licensure in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • PA or ACNP with RNFA who graduated from a surgical fellowship and has two years' surgery experience.
  • ACLS required for adult surgery.
