The Corporate Innovation Strategist will report directly to the Director of Corporate Innovation and will play a pivotal role in supporting the management and execution of SVG Ventures' Corporate Innovation Strategy.
This role demands an individual with a robust background in collaborating with large organizations on open innovation matters. Responsibilities encompass open innovation strategy formulation, disruption advisory, partnership cultivation across diverse organizations, startup scouting and assessment, as well as new venture creation. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a seasoned leader, possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, business insight, and demonstrates outstanding work ethics.
Corporate Innovation Function
The Corporate Innovation team at THRIVE operates in diverse and dynamic ways, consistently aiming to enhance value for partners by leveraging our global platform. It is essential for the individual in this role to be adaptable, willing to support the most effective business pathways, and proactive in developing informed perspectives. Comfort in independent operations, strong organizational skills for managing multiple responsibilities, and the ability to transition between in-depth analytical tasks and swift tactical execution are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Partner Engagement & Relationship Management
- Proactively identify and comprehend partners' innovation requirements and priorities, balancing direct interpretations with derived recommendations from various information sources.
- Guide partners towards innovation opportunities from identification through to outcomes, ensuring significant impacts on their organizations.
- Design clear, results-oriented partner engagements that foster retention and success.
- Facilitate workshops focused on design thinking and innovation, engaging participants from multiple organizations.
- Establish and nurture productive relationships with key contacts at partner organizations.
- Stay informed on market and technology trends to effectively discuss key developments in agrifood technology relevant to partners.
- Administer account management standards, including coordination of essential meetings, project planning, and maintenance of internal systems.
Strategy & Operations
- Assist in the ongoing development of SVG Ventures/THRIVE Corporate Innovation strategy, operations, and key initiatives.
- Collaborate with THRIVE programs, marketing, fund, and management teams to implement key initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Agriculture, or Business; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in management, design, innovation advisory, or engagement delivery.
- Experience in research and development within the agrifood or related technology sectors.
- Proven track record in launching and leading new ventures or business models.
- Experience in innovation or corporate development functions within agrifood corporations is advantageous.
- Demonstrated involvement in driving significant partnerships or investments is a major plus.
- A deep connection and passion for food and/or agriculture is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the venture capital landscape and experience working with startups is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong presentation abilities.
- Self-motivated with a strong initiative and work ethic.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
