Corporate Counsel, Government & Regulatory Litigation

The Legal Department at Amazon is seeking a knowledgeable, skilled, and driven litigator to oversee its global portfolio of litigation and regulatory issues, while providing guidance on a diverse range of innovative legal and business risk management challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Overseeing, managing, and directing a variety of domestic and international disputes and regulatory matters.
  2. Engaging directly with government representatives, including regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies.
  3. Formulating overall case strategies and managing external legal counsel.
  4. Evaluating risks and collaborating with senior management on risk mitigation strategies.
  5. Coordinating responses to legal discovery requests.

This role will primarily focus on disputes and potential disputes concerning the World Wide Operations division, which encompasses Amazon's global logistics and transportation services that fulfill customer orders. The World Wide Operations sector includes warehouse management, Prime Air drone delivery, electric bicycle logistics, workplace safety, sustainability initiatives, and global trade compliance.

This position reports to an Associate General Counsel within the Litigation & Regulatory team and may be based in various locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or equivalent) with active membership in at least one state bar.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in litigation and regulatory matters.
  3. Practical experience in complex domestic and/or international business litigation, including trial experience and advising parties in pre-dispute and dispute resolution scenarios.
  4. Experience as a federal judicial clerk.
  5. Background in federal or state government service, including litigation experience.
  6. Experience working in a law firm environment.
  7. Trial experience is essential.
  8. Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects independently in ambiguous situations.
  9. Familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape of the internet, software, and media sectors.
  10. Ability to collaborate effectively with other attorneys, business clients, paralegals, and support staff.
  11. Experience advising senior executives within an organization.
  12. Background in crisis management and response.
  13. Strong multitasking abilities.
  14. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Sound business judgment, practical common sense, and a positive demeanor.
  16. Commitment to the highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various U.S. geographic areas. The base salary for this role ranges from $138,500 to $229,000, depending on the market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
