The Developmental Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals and aspirations. This role requires a high level of empathy, understanding, and patience to work with individuals with diverse needs and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess each individual's hopes, dreams, and desires, and provide tailored support to facilitate achievement.
  • Support individuals in developing meaningful relationships within their community and with their natural support networks.
  • Assist individuals in participating fully in their community, consistent with their interests and preferences.
  • Ensure the rights of each individual are protected and promoted at all times, and assist in developing advocacy skills and participating in advocacy efforts.
  • Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed, and facilitate positive relationships using person-centered approaches.
  • Contribute to assessment and planning processes, and implement individual plans within service definition requirements.
  • Document progress and complete required paperwork, including goal completion, actions toward outcomes, incident reports, and timesheets.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as housekeeping, meal preparation, and transportation, and provide support with emergency procedures and personal safety.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to maintain certification and stay up-to-date with agency policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (Required)
  • North Carolina Driver License (Valid) - NC Division of Motor Vehicles
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse needs and abilities (Preferred)
