WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday (Flexible work schedule may be available)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Specialist (CS) is tasked with orchestrating and executing communication initiatives that engage and inspire our faculty, staff, students, and supporters of St. Philip's School & Community Center. The CS serves as the primary contact for all inquiries and will strategize, organize, and ensure the timely and effective execution of project requests from various departments within the organization. Furthermore, the CS will engage in a wide array of interdisciplinary projects in the fields of communications, marketing, and public relations, fostering professional growth within the role. The CS will uphold the organization's voice both internally and externally, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all communication channels.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION & SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail, critical thinking, and project management capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Google Suite
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is advantageous
- Familiarity with website content management systems
- Basic photography skills and photo editing knowledge
- Video production and editing experience is a plus
- Proficient understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube)
- Writing samples must be provided upon submission
- Ensure accurate, timely, and budget-conscious completion of individual project requests from departments or external partners
- Prepare weekly status reports and facilitate weekly meetings
- Compose, edit, proofread, format, and schedule communications for publication across internal and external platforms
- Draft and refine content for emails, websites, monthly newsletters, press releases, and more
- Collaborate across departments to create compelling and impactful brand narratives
- Train to become proficient in all communication platforms (Renweb, Eventbrite, Sign-Up Genius, Constant Contact, Giving Fuel, etc.)
- Work with other departments to produce a bi-annual magazine
- Capture images and videos for both print and digital use
- Assist in gathering content for social media platforms
- Support the Director of Communications in developing and executing annual communication strategies
- Engage in team brainstorming sessions and projects that require creativity and innovation
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the Communications Department
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and oversee multiple project timelines and task lists to ensure completion
- Demonstrate self-motivation and problem-solving abilities; conduct research, provide findings, and seek guidance as needed

- Ability to craft engaging brand stories encompassing topics related to students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, community engagement, and philanthropy
- Creativity in approaching projects and tasks, consistently offering innovative ideas
- Ability to quickly learn various software and platforms: Intranets, CMS, blogs, Giving Fuel, Constant Contact, Eventbrite, Sign-Up Genius, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite [InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop], Microsoft Office [Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook], etc.
