Job Title: Research Project Manager

Join the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Research Project Manager and contribute to the design, operation, and evaluation of multiple injury and violence prevention projects. This role will be devoted primarily to managing projects that build capacity for practitioners in the fields of systems thinking, shared risk and protective factors, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage various aspects of training and capacity building programs for injury & violence prevention professionals across North Carolina, including tracking and updating project budgets, developing meeting agendas, facilitating team meetings, and tracking project progress.
  • Plan and present training on ACEs, systems thinking, and shared risk and protective factors.
  • Manage student assistants, planning their weekly tasks and providing feedback. Train new students on work methods and practices.
  • Lead the development of reports and other scholarly articles for training and capacity building programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with program team members and key partners involved in the design and implementation of injury & violence prevention training programs.
  • Manage project communications, including communications with training program applicants, developing and disseminating program informational and recruitment materials (both digital and print).
  • Plan and produce virtual and in-person events including online and in-person training sessions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate training and professional development opportunities for UNC Chapel Hill students, staff, faculty, and partners in different injury and violence prevention topics.
Requirements:
  • Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
  • Project management skills and the ability to build systems to stay on top of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to design and lead program evaluations.
  • Experience managing listservs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior knowledge of or experience in ACEs, systems thinking, injury and violence prevention science.
  • Prior experience managing projects in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated comfort facilitating groups on a wide range of activities and topics.
  • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with collaborators, such as government agencies, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
  • Has experience programming digital forms/surveys (e.g., Google Forms or Qualtrics).
