Position Summary:

The selected candidate will conduct Receiving Inspection, In-process Inspection, Final Inspection, and various other evaluations of optical and opto-mechanical/electronic lenses and assemblies. The individual will also be expected to mentor and support colleagues as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of optical components and assemblies (incoming, in-process, and finished) in accordance with customer specifications, RPO standards, and applicable quality plans.
  • Perform Special Inspections, including complete and sample inspections related to First Article Inspections and other quality and engineering assessments.
  • Engage in product and process audits to ensure compliance with all relevant specifications and standards.
  • Participate in engineering, quality, manufacturing, and customer reviews to provide expertise and inspection services as needed.
  • Deliver effective training to team members on the use of inspection and testing equipment, ensuring comprehension and application of the training provided.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and data entries as per established procedures and management directives.
  • Contribute to quality planning and continuous improvement initiatives for products and processes.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Understand gauge system errors and select appropriate tools and techniques for actionable results.
  • Review and comprehend product documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Experience interpreting MIL-13830 and other relevant optical product/process standards.
  • Proficient in using hand measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to read and interpret various part and product prints.

Educational Background:

  • High School diploma required; AAS or AS degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in optics inspection or a related field is necessary.
  • Experience in mechanical manufacturing is advantageous.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, along with effective communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Capability to apply basic mathematical concepts.

Work Environment:

  • May involve the use of oils and solvents, with potential exposure to cleaning solutions.
  • Work is generally conducted in a clean environment, with adherence to safety protocols.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and potential airborne particles.
  • May require area-specific safety training.

Compensation & Benefits:
