Position Summary:

The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of mechanical components, opto-mechanical assemblies, and related tooling. This role includes training and supporting team members in the effective use of inspection and testing equipment, as well as participating in the calibration processes of company equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of mechanical components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform special inspections related to First Article Inspections and other quality assessments.
  • Oversee the calibration of inspection and measuring equipment, ensuring adherence to defined schedules.
  • Engage in product and process audits to verify compliance with relevant standards and policies.
  • Contribute expertise during engineering, quality, and manufacturing reviews.
  • Provide effective training on inspection equipment usage to other personnel.
  • Document and report inspection results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in quality planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and address gage system errors.
  • Familiarity with product documentation, including inspection reports and material certifications.
  • Proficient in using hand measuring tools and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Experience with GD&T is preferred.
  • Competence in operating optical comparators and other advanced measuring equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Educational Background:

  • High School diploma or GED required; AAS or AS in engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on quality inspection.
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2008 and/or AS9100 standards is advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • May involve exposure to oils and solvents, and requires adherence to safety protocols.
  • Work is conducted in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to noise and moving parts.
