Aquatic Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Aquatic Safety Specialist to join our team at the Keene Family YMCA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants in our Aquatics Center.
As an Aquatic Safety Specialist, you will maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and in surrounding areas, creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens.
The ideal candidate will have current American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certifications, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, and be able to demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA/ARC standards.

Key Responsibilities- Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
- Maintains active surveillance of the pool area by continuously scanning the pool area from side to side and regularly walking around the pool area to check blind spots, steam room, and sauna.
- Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the safe-in-six model (Prevent, Recognize, Activate EAP, Rescue, Care, Report).
- Maintains effective, positive, culturally aware relationships with members, participants, and other staff.
We are looking for someone who is:
- At least 18 years old.
- Physically and mentally prepared to perform the duties of a lifeguard.
- Able to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
- Currently certified as a lifeguard through the American Red Cross or YMCA.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $15.25-$17.75, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for growth and development in a dynamic and supportive environment.
