Certified Nursing Assistant

PAM Health is seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team in providing high-quality patient care and customer service. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will be responsible for performing various patient care activities and accommodative services under the general supervision of a Registered or Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care
- In collaboration with licensed staff, organize patient care and general unit activities to accomplish required functions, prioritize workload, answer call lights promptly, and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Provide an appropriate environment for the provision of nursing care to individual patients by maintaining the patient rooms in an orderly manner and by assisting in the maintenance of a neat work environment.
- Provide designated patient care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, based on previously acquired skills, according to physicians' orders, and in conformance with approved patient care standards.
- Assess vital signs and report significant changes to a licensed nurse. Document on appropriate worksheets.
- Record intake and output for assigned patients on nursing worksheets and notify a licensed nurse when intake or output is unusually high or low.
- Record care given as well as observed responses to treatment, including patient's participation in ADLs. Data is complete, accurate, and comprehensive.
- Assist with the distribution and collection of patient nourishments and meal trays.
- Assist patients with feeding but do not provide any enteral feeding.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including oral care, bathing, positioning, transferring, and elimination; report any observed change in patients' conditions to the licensed nurse in a timely manner.
- Complete patient care assignments with special focus on maintaining patient rights; appropriate dental/oral care; special precautions in the use of restraints and safety devices; dynamics of death and dying; care of immobilized patients to maximize function; care related to potential sensory deficits - audio, visual, and speech.
- Apply principles of infection control in the provision of patient care.
- Apply principles of growth and development over the lifespan to identify patient and caregiver needs relative to age-specific needs by adapting patient care to the needs of the patient population assigned.
- Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by the state where the hospital resides.
- Current BLS certification is required.
- A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit is preferred.
