Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Officer to join our team at the City of Cedar Falls. As a Public Safety Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, responding to emergency situations, and providing critical services to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations to ensure public safety and order
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as fires, medical emergencies, and crimes
  • Provide critical services, including fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical care
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to maintain public safety and prevent crime
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Two years of post-high school education or five years of public safety experience, including firefighter or police officer experience
  • Proof of Firefighter I & II certifications from the State of Iowa or equivalent certifications
  • Meet the minimum hiring standards of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy
  • Pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical exam, including a drug screen, background investigation, and polygraph exam
