Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Ochsner Health. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and guests, while ensuring accurate and efficient registration and admission processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and family members
  • Create, activate, and complete patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission processes
  • Ensure all required forms are completed and other paperwork/documents are gathered and accurate
  • Efficiently and accurately gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information
  • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process at the end of each shift
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and adapt behavior to specific patient populations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
  • One year of related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front-line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel retail, and/or customer service experience required
  • Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments
  • Excellent decision-making skills and good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Work Environment

This role will work in a healthcare setting and may be exposed to hazardous medications or hazardous waste. The incumbent will work with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms.
