Position Overview

The role is situated within the Real Estate Portfolio team and reports directly to the Supervisor of Real Estate. Responsibilities include managing third-party inquiries regarding the utilization or sale of company assets from initiation to completion. This encompasses formulating initial recommendations for management and routing them to internal stakeholders for necessary approvals. The role necessitates a thorough review of all conditions identified by internal stakeholders to determine the appropriate actions to fulfill requests, including the sale or lease of company properties or granting consent for compatible uses of company easements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold a strong commitment to safety in all aspects of work.
  • Collaborate with team members and project managers to secure necessary agreements that align with company objectives, including supporting new agreements and coordinating due diligence throughout the closure process.
  • Collect and assess Real Estate records to ensure timely and efficient responses to customer inquiries.
  • Analyze and negotiate terms of various agreements, including easements, leases, and licenses.
  • Acquisition efforts involve understanding stakeholder requirements across various departments, including Project Management, Substation and Transmission Engineering, and Environmental considerations.
  • Provide guidance and support to contract resources in alignment with the Energizing the Future Program.
  • Engage with various management levels within the organization, comprehend work processes, and manage requests from inception to conclusion.
  • Apply education and experience to practical situations, pursue skill development, and establish a solid foundation in policies and procedures.
  • Foster effective working relationships within the team and across the organization.
  • Anticipate and deliver results that meet both internal and external customer needs.
  • Assist with department-wide initiatives, including developing and recommending process enhancements.
  • Manage the use of company rights, negotiate rents, and prepare lease documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a Science-related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with Real Estate matters, title research, land surveying, GIS, utility engineering, and construction is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of FirstEnergy's operational territory and facilities is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to create clear, accurate, and concise presentations and reports.
  • Excellent customer relations and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interpret legal documents, including deeds, easements, leases, and licenses.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and digital satellite imagery tools.
  • Familiarity with real estate information technology is essential.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Powerplant is helpful.
