Job Overview

YAI is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Direct Support Professional to join our team at the Westwood Apartments program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting the emotional and social independence of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medication as needed and on a regular basis, after becoming certified to do so.

  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

  • Utilize effective communication and time management skills to ensure seamless daily operations.

  • Participate in mandatory trainings and apply skills to enhance the quality of care provided.

  • Manage crisis situations and provide appropriate supervision to ensure the health, wellness, and safety of our residents.

  • Transport and escort residents on recreational activities, medical appointments, and home visits.

  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive community.

  • Maintain a therapeutic environment through Personal Outcome Measures, Person-Centered Thinking, and Informed Decision Making.

  • Ensure person-centered plans are implemented and documented to ensure compliance and billing.

  • Apply foundational teaching skills, such as EMOE, Task Analysis, and Essential Skills, to support resident growth and development.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required; some college is a plus.

  • A valid Driver's License with no more than 5 points is required.

  • Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred.

  • Ability to participate in 2 days of NJS Mandated DDD initial trainings during normal business hours upon hire.

  • Tuberculosis test required for most positions.

  • New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory.
