Job Overview

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday from 7 AM - 4 PM and/or 9 AM to 6 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness in hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other communal areas to ensure health standards are upheld.
  • Utilize vacuum cleaners and shampooers to clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying wastebaskets and cleaning ashtrays, transporting trash to designated disposal areas.
  • Transport cleaning supplies and toilet items using wheeled carts.
  • Perform floor maintenance by sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing using appropriate tools and machines.
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment to maintain a tidy appearance.
  • Ensure storage areas and cleaning carts are well-stocked and organized.
  • Clear debris from driveways, garages, and pool areas.
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, including waxing and polishing as necessary.
  • Report maintenance issues such as burned-out lights, leaks, or broken equipment to the maintenance department.
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies using appropriate germicides or steam sterilizers.
  • Dust window blinds to maintain cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and precautions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Protect residents, guests, and property by observing safety protocols and reporting any damage or theft.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange furniture and decorations for events.
  • Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to use.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as necessary.

Work Environment

The role is primarily conducted in a residential setting, focusing on the upkeep of common areas while working with cleaning chemicals.

Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions is expected.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, climb stairs, and navigate tight spaces; stoop, kneel, and lift or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to push cleaning equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Capability to handle and manipulate objects and equipment effectively.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a non-exempt position (hourly), with a schedule determined by the specific needs of the property.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in managing a housekeeping department.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and their proper usage.
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment within a residential environment.
  • Capability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
