Aquatic Sports Coach

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Associate Diving Director, you will play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and oversight of the non-competitive youth diving program. Your ability to communicate effectively with both staff and members is essential for fostering a positive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in First Aid, CPR, and U.S. Diving is preferred. Strong communication skills are vital for maintaining professionalism and rapport with participants and colleagues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commit 2-6 hours weekly to coaching and program-related tasks.
- Maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
- Serve as a coach for Levels 1-3, and provide support for Levels 4-9 as needed.
- Assist in the marketing and promotion of the youth diving program.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during sessions.
- Contribute to the planning of training sessions, workouts, and conditioning activities.
- Support recruitment efforts at local swim leagues and championships.
- Report any incidents or safety concerns to the director promptly.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections to ensure safety standards are met.
- Exemplify the YMCA's core values of Honesty, Responsibility, Respect, and Caring.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires frequent physical activity, including climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, swimming, and sitting. The ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds is necessary. Vision and hearing acuity are essential for performing job functions effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this position, you may encounter wet and humid environments. Outdoor work is not a frequent requirement.

Your contributions will be vital in organizing, promoting, and developing a successful diving program that encourages youth participation and retention. Participants will not only enjoy the sport but also gain exposure to the core values of the YMCA.
