Internship Program

Position Purpose

As an Underwriting Intern, you will gain a broad understanding of the RLI business through real-world experience and on-the-job training. You will work closely with experienced professionals, colleagues, and fellow interns to gain knowledge and develop team-building skills.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete project-based assignments as assigned.
  • Work closely with experienced professionals, colleagues, and fellow interns to gain knowledge and develop team-building skills.
  • Attend planned education and social activities to gain an understanding of the RLI business and network.
Education & Experience

We require a high school diploma and college coursework with 0-2 years of experience in a related field or position.

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
  • Ability to analyze and resolve basic issues.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with others.

We're looking for young professionals who possess critical thinking/analytic skills, strong communication skills, ability to work independently, integrity, and reliability. Our ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, has technical accuracy, and is eager to learn and grow.

Internship Pay Rates

We offer competitive pay rates based on the group being supported and relevant educational factors. Our pay rates are as follows:

  • General Internship: $20/hour
  • IT & Underwriting: $22/hour
  • Legal: $25/hour
  • Actuarial: $20-$26/hour*

*Dependent on number of completed actuarial exams.
