Elementary Education Lead Instructor Position at Seattle Y

At the YMCA of Greater Seattle, we are seeking an Elementary Education Lead Instructor to join our team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and making a positive impact in their lives.

About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to lead our elementary age participants through engaging sports, arts, STEM, and other hands-on learning activities at our Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program. As an Elementary Education Lead Instructor, you will be responsible for guiding our students through these activities while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
You will work closely with our program supervisor and other instructors to create a fun and supportive learning environment that fosters teamwork, social emotional learning, and skill building among our students. You will also provide support for our Play Everyday Program 2-4 days per week during the middle of the day, which is a recess-based program at the school.
This is a full-time onsite position, Monday-Friday from 6:45am-start of school and end of school-6:00pm. The Y also provides full-day programming on non-school days and early release days. As an Elementary Education Lead Instructor, you will have the flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and care.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum provided by the YDCoE.
- Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.
- May provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing the activities of groups of children.
- Professionally communicate day-to-day, confidential and evaluative information with parents/guardians.

Requirements- 18 years of age or older.
- 2 or more years' experience working with children, preferably in camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
- Ability to model and demonstrate YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
- Experience planning and implementing group activities.
