Position Overview

The Commercial Lending Specialist will collaborate with various bank personnel, including fellow Commercial Lending Specialists, Relationship Managers, Branch Leaders, and Loan Processing teams. This role involves presenting financing proposals to the Loan Committee and Board of Directors while reporting directly to a designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and cultivate new client relationships to enhance the bank's portfolio.
  • Engage in community events to promote brand visibility.
  • Assess applicants' credit histories to evaluate their ability to repay loans.
  • Negotiate loan terms, including pricing, repayment options, and collateral requirements.
  • Work with management or the Loan Committee to establish competitive interest rate structures in line with bank policies.
  • Review loan applications and provide recommendations to the Credit Department and Loan Committee.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes affecting business lending and advise management as needed.
  • Participate in training sessions as required for professional development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in loan systems and document management.
  • Ability to cross-sell and promote various banking products.
  • Adhere to a structured calling protocol established by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in a financial institution or lending environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate and lending policies is advantageous.
  • Understanding of cash management services and related financial products is preferred.
  • Strong skills in management, collaboration, communication, organization, and sales are preferred.

Supervisory Role

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a dynamic office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers. Responsibilities will be conducted through various communication methods, including phone calls and in-person meetings.

Physical Requirements

The role necessitates manual dexterity, the capability to lift files, and the ability to navigate office spaces.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be necessary for this position.
