Colorado Rapids Player Development Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team as a Colorado Rapids Player Development Athletic Trainer. The successful candidate will work closely with our Medical Department to provide sports medicine support to our Player Development teams, including Rapids 2, Rapids Academy U18, U16 & U15.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and provide injury prevention strategies, injury evaluation, injury treatment, and injury rehabilitation for players.
  • Work under the direction and supervision of the Club's Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician, and Technical Staff.
  • Assist with 1st Team needs as assigned.
  • Perform as a Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of players, including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, and conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals.
  • Maintain a complete and up-to-date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record system.
  • Provide individualized Return to Play (RTP) Protocols that allow each athlete to progress safely back to full training.
  • Provide at-home training programs for those not traveling, injured, or during cancelled sessions (due to weather).
  • Order, maintain, and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.
  • Keep the athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Comply with all MLS and US Soccer medical policies and protocols.
  • Comply with OSHA Standards with regards to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Serve as a resource for Colorado Rapids Alliance Clubs.
  • Provide ongoing education and educational resources to staff and community partners.
  • Travel as required.
  • Assist the Director of Soccer Development Technical Director with any other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

The successful candidate will be required to stand and walk 1/3 to 2/3 of the time, sit up to 1/3 of the time, talk or hear 2/3 or more of the time, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 1/3 of the time. The candidate will also be required to lift up to 50 lbs. up to 1/3 of the time and work in moderate to loud noise. Outdoor weather conditions will be encountered 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university.
  • BOC (or CATA) Athletic Trainer Certification.
  • In good standing with BOC and a member of the NATA (or CATA).
  • Current professional CPR certification.
  • Possess personal professional liability insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • A CSCS, NASM-PES, or equivalent certification is preferred.
Compensation:

Base Salary Range: $60,000 per annum.
