Position Summary:

The role of Accountant III is vital for ensuring precise and prompt execution of accounting tasks. This position encompasses four primary financial responsibilities: balance sheet reconciliation, sales tax compliance, month-end journal entries, and inter-office accounting for travel and expenses. A high degree of confidentiality, meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to regulations are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Accounting:
    Establish and manage all projects, revenue, and billing within the Project Module. Maintain all modifications in Deltek CostPoint. Ensure timely filing of monthly Sales and Use Taxes, including necessary research and compliance. Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Month-End Close:
    Support month-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in collaboration with the accounting team and the Director of Finance.
  • Contractual Financial Reporting:
    Prepare and submit financial reports as required by government contracts, including Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) and other contract-specific disclosures.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, including FAR/DFAR and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), while staying updated on changes that may affect financial reporting.
  • Process Improvement and Risk Management:
    Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes and internal controls to improve efficiency, ensure compliance, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Work effectively with other departments, including project management, procurement, and operations, to align financial objectives and communicate financial performance.
  • Audit Support:
    Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support to ensure successful audit outcomes.
  • Additional Duties:
    Perform other responsibilities as assigned within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and government contracting regulations (DFAR, FAR, CAS).
  • Knowledge of federal financial reporting requirements and DCAA audits.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.
