Job Summary

Barr Engineering Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented environmental intern to join its Hibbing office for the summer of 2025. As an environmental intern, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging and progressive projects related to the evaluation and remediation of contaminated sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with on-site investigations of contaminated soil, vapor, sediment, and groundwater
  • Conduct environmental site assessments and construction observation
  • Perform engineering calculations and data summary tables and spreadsheets
  • Develop technical reports and communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Participate in fieldwork opportunities, including out-of-town travel
Requirements
  • Environmental, chemical, geological, civil, or other related engineering major or geology major
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Third- or fourth-year student with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
  • Flexible working style and ability to work independently and with teams of specialists
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr Engineering Company
What We Offer

Barr Engineering Company offers a hybrid work arrangement for this position, which includes splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Hibbing, Minnesota, office. We provide safety training and may require an OSHA-mandated physical exam. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
