We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff I to join our team at the City of Salem, VA. As a Deputy Sheriff I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of public safety duties, including courtroom security, transportation, and service of civil process.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of public safety duties, including courtroom security, transportation, and service of civil process.
- On an assigned shift, perform a scheduled or assigned Sheriff's Office duty.
- Perform assigned court services and security duties, assist clerk's office, operate metal detectors and x-ray machine, and execute judge's orders and direction.
- Transport prisoners, detainees, mental patients, etc. to appointments, court or other transports as assigned.
- Execute evictions, repossessions, detainments or other court directed actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on activities and assignments.
- Serve civil process and criminal arrest warrants and a variety of other court papers and directions.
- MUST be certified law enforcement, deputy sheriff or corrections.
- Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Must meet and maintain all Office and State training and education requirements for position.
