Healthcare Front Desk Representative

About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized and communicative Medical Receptionist to join our team at Preventive Plus. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and clients, requiring a warm and professional demeanor when answering phone calls and greeting visitors.
As a Medical Receptionist, you will schedule appointments, update patient records, and coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless patient care. You will also assist with billing inquiries, collect co-pays, and maintain confidentiality and security when accessing patient information.
Our ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, prior experience in a medical reception or customer service role, and proficiency in using EMR systems and phone systems. Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel, are also required.
Responsibilities
This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Answering incoming phone calls with a warm and professional demeanor
- Scheduling patient appointments using the EMR system
- Efficiently coordinating scheduling with providers, considering medical priorities and patient preferences
- Addressing patient inquiries regarding appointments, services, and general office information
- Providing accurate and detailed information about procedures, services, and insurance coverage
- Directing patients to appropriate resources or departments as needed
- Verifying patient insurance coverage and eligibility over the phone
- Collecting co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances according to Vanguard policies
- Assisting with billing inquiries and providing patients with billing information and explanations
- Contacting patients via phone to confirm, reschedule, or remind them of upcoming appointments
- Managing appointment cancellation and rescheduling requests promptly and efficiently
- Updating patient records and appointments in the EMR system accurately
- Maintaining confidentiality and security when accessing and updating patient information
- Collaborating with clinical staff to facilitate effective patient care by relaying patient concerns, appointment changes, and other relevant information
- Communicating clearly and empathetically to alleviate patient anxiety and stress during phone interactions
- Assisting with phone-based administrative tasks such as managing appointment queues, sorting mail, and coordinating referrals
- Focusing on creating a positive patient experience by addressing concerns and feedback with professionalism and courtesy
- Maintaining a patient-centric approach when handling phone interactions
- Performing all other clerical duties as assigned by Preventive Plus
