About the Role
As a NICU Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in assessing patients, formulating care plans, and executing and evaluating care for infants.

As part of a collaborative care team, you will work closely with colleagues to ensure the safe and effective delivery of care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Attending deliveries and conducting neonatal stabilization and admission assessments for newborns.
  • Developing care plans, including discharge strategies, and adjusting them based on patient responses.
  • Performing ongoing assessments of infants and communicating any changes to the Nurse Practitioner or Neonatologist.
  • Administering medications and executing treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Assisting transport teams in stabilizing infants and providing necessary documentation for transfers.
  • Offering support and educational resources to families regarding homecare, treatments, and support groups.
  • Assisting in high-risk deliveries and supporting the Nurse Practitioner during resuscitation efforts.
  • Delegating tasks appropriately to non-licensed staff in line with professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Experience in an acute care environment is preferred.

Education

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) preferred.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Neonatal Education Program Certification preferred.
