Job Description

As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Specialist at CommuniCare Health Center, you will provide high-quality, comprehensive out-patient primary health care services to our pediatric patients. You will consult with supervising physicians and abide by established clinical protocols, reporting any clinical issues and activities related to the delivery of pediatric medical care.

Responsibilities:
  1. Examine, diagnose, treat, and/or refer pediatric patients assigned to your panel on an out-patient basis. Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate for assessed medical conditions, consulting with supervising physicians.
  2. Maintain a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen, adhering to the Center's established Health Informatic Management policies and procedures. Complete thorough documentation of each patient's visit in the electronic health record and ensure encounters are closed within 24 hours.
  3. Assure continuity of care by providing medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule, within the Center's scope of practice and your training.
  4. Refer patients for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x-ray, and any other ancillary services that are suitable for patient management and care, consulting with supervising physicians as needed.
  5. Review all lab and x-ray reports for patients under your care on a timely basis and make medical management decisions appropriately.
  6. Maintain appropriate productivity standards for your specialty as established by the Center, ensuring efficient patient flow and minimizing schedule changes and absences.
  7. Provide excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax, or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their healthcare needs.
  8. Train and mentor medical students and clinical support staff engaged in activities and procedures, as necessary.
  9. Follow established departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives, as well as continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  10. Participate in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs as needed, such as diabetes collaborative or health fairs; attend and participate in clinic meetings, departmental meetings, and other clinic functions as required by the Center.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited university in a Nurse Practitioner Program is required.
  • Previous work experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
  • You must have a current unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • You must be registered and have a current DEA registration.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.

Estimated Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
