The House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of nursing staff within the patient care unit. This role ensures that the needs of patients are met effectively while evaluating the quality of nursing care and performance within the unit. The House Supervisor plays a crucial role in planning the workflow of assigned units and collaborating with other patient care units and related departments.
This position is pivotal in managing the efficient "patient flow" through the hospital's patient care delivery services by acting as a communication link between the admitting department and nursing units.
In the absence of department and hospital executives, the House Supervisor acts as their representative, addressing concerns or incidents to the designated administrative personnel on call.

This facility is the largest acute care medical center in the region, providing a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services, particularly in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care.
Recognized as the leading emergency facility in the area, it is the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with highly trained physicians and nurses in emergency services.
The Pavilion and Critical Care Center feature a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites.As a teaching facility affiliated with the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine, it is also an Accredited Chest Pain Center and an Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team.
The Shoreline campus hosts vital programs, including a Primary Stroke Center, a nationally accredited Cancer Center, and a recognized Chest Pain Center.
The Pavilion houses the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network, recently acknowledged as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States, offering advanced diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative cardiac services in one location.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with supervisory experience in an acute care setting.
- Current Texas State RN license.
- CPR certification (American Heart Association).
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
- NIHSS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
- De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
- Additional certifications must be completed within specified time frames for various facilities.
