Job Summary:

As a Supervising Registered Nurse in our Acute Care department, you will oversee the activities of nursing personnel and ensure that patients' needs are met. You will evaluate unit nursing care and performance, participate in planning work, and coordinate activities with other patient care units and related departments. Your leadership skills will be essential in planning and organizing training for unit staff members and participating in guidance and educational programs.

Responsibilities include coordinating and directing prompt, efficient patient flow through the patient care delivery services of the hospital. You will serve as a clinical resource person in delivery and supervision of direct and indirect care processes. Additionally, you will provide competent leadership and direction for all hospital codes and/or crisis management.

Christus Health is a leading healthcare provider in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. Our hospital is a teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine.

  • The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites.
  • Accredited Chest Pain Center and Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team.

Requirements:

A. Education/Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

B. Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and supervisor experience in an acute care hospital.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • Current Texas State RN license.
  • CPR (American Heart Association).
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
  • NIHSS required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
  • De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
  • Additional certifications must be completed by the specified time frame for facilities listed below.
