Mental Health Technician

DMC Receiving Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in Michigan, seeks a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care to patients with mental illness, working under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one interaction with patients, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
- Assist in educational sessions, facilitating task-oriented sessions, and participating in patient care conferences.
- Contribute to the patient intake, admission, and discharge processes, including data collection and unit orientation.
- Perform patient, body, and property searches, and secure patient property.
- Participate in treatment-planning meetings and observe patients at risk for dangerous behavior.
- Obtain vital signs, perform specimen collection, and assist with physical examinations as needed.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as eating, dressing, and bathing.
- Monitor and document patient observations, interactions, and interventions.
- Complete court petitions, accompany patients to court, and testify to substantiate treatment needs.
- Assist professional staff with restraint and seclusion as needed.
- Perform routine clerical functions, including answering phones and computer input.
- Ensure patient care equipment is clean and in good working order.
- Promote guest relations, anticipating and responding to needs of others.
- One year of college study in behavioral health or equivalent combination of education and experience in an adult mental health setting.
- One year of related clinical experience working with mentally ill patients.
- Successful completion of annual recipient rights training, physical management in-service, and demonstration of active CPR certification.
