The Electronics Testing Specialist role is pivotal in ensuring our products meet the required CE standards, including EN, CISPR-22, and other relevant RF and ESD standards. This position encompasses the layout, assembly, evaluation, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of both developmental and production electronic components, systems, and equipment, while also providing support to engineering, production, and quality assurance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes electronic principles and knowledge to design, construct, assess, troubleshoot, repair, and enhance both developmental and production electronic devices.
  • Conducts RF emissions and susceptibility tests on all new products, compiling comprehensive final reports for each item.
  • Involves in test setup, measurement, instrument verification/calibration, and data collection for operational and EMI/EMC evaluations of all electrical and electronic systems from module level to complete assemblies.
  • Tests various components including LEDs, reflectors, batteries, and related items.
  • Operates measurement instruments in accordance with established National, International, and Military standards for data acquisition.
  • Collaborates with engineering teams to perform ANSI testing on both existing and new products.
  • Designs and establishes standard testing apparatus and develops specialized testing equipment and circuitry.
  • Implements functional, operational, environmental, and lifespan tests to assess the performance and reliability of prototypes and production units.
  • Conducts calculations using Ohm's law and power formulas.
  • Analyzes results and prepares professional technical documentation, including charts, graphs, and schematics, to illustrate operational characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations for engineering review.
  • Proposes modifications in circuitry or specifications to enhance reliability and functionality or to simplify assembly and reduce costs.
  • Develops testing protocols in collaboration with engineering and meticulously documents and archives data.
  • Engages in discussions regarding procedures and challenges with Electronics Engineers, ensuring clear and accurate reporting of all testing activities.
  • Assists Quality Control in formulating electrical and electronic testing protocols and performs routine assessments of production components and assemblies as necessary.
  • Maintains the electronics laboratory and its equipment, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Supports Production, Returns, and Repair Departments in the enhancement and repair of products.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate degree in a relevant field along with at least five years of directly related experience.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC testing equipment and procedures.
  • Understanding of battery, LED, and battery charging circuitry applications and testing; microprocessor experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of lumen and candlepower measurement techniques.
  • Proficient in using standard electronic testing equipment as well as specialized RF testing tools for evaluating electronic circuits.
  • Skilled in soldering both conventional and surface mount components and operating necessary shop equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions, schematic diagrams, drawings, and specifications, and to utilize specialized tools and software for task completion.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with all levels of technical personnel, interpret complex information, establish priorities, and address non-routine issues requiring evaluation and interpretation.
  • Experience in designing and constructing circuits for functional testing equipment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
