Industrial Plant Mechanic
Job Summary:
The Industrial Plant Mechanic will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment, adhering to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, and detailed instructions within industrial settings.
Preference will be given to candidates with current Tappisafe Basic certifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interprets blueprints and schematic diagrams to determine work procedures.
- Dismantles machinery and relocates equipment as necessary.
- Assembles and installs machinery, conducting tests to ensure proper functionality.
- Complies fully with established safety regulations.
- Manages the layout and positioning of equipment in factory environments to minimize downtime.
- Identifies and rectifies issues with machinery through testing, temporary repairs, or the installation of new components.
- Replaces outdated machines with new installations.
- Oversees preventive maintenance by detecting and addressing potential problems, replacing worn parts, and lubricating mechanical components.
- Utilizes equipment such as forklifts to transport mechanical parts.
- Assembles and installs various equipment, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, and turbines; aligns machinery using reverse alignment techniques; secures machines to foundations or other structures; may operate engine lathes to grind, file, and turn machine parts to specified dimensions; may perform repairs and lubrication on machines and equipment; may assist in grouting activities for equipment base plates.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring all work is conducted safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
Preferred: 4 years of experience as an industrial plant mechanic or completion of a relevant vocational program with 2 years of practical experience.
Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements:
Must be able to complete hiring documentation electronically. May need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Should possess sufficient strength and stamina to perform the technical duties outlined above. Must be capable of navigating confined spaces and uneven terrain. Requires full range of motion appropriate for age. Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders. Adequate hearing to respond to voice commands and alarms is essential, as is visual acuity for working at heights and on uneven surfaces. Safety/steel-toe footwear is mandatory.
