Job Summary

The Plant Mechanic will install and maintain machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and written instructions in industrial settings. Current Tappisafe Basic candidates are preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and dismantle machines.
  • Assembles and installs machines, testing them to ensure correct operation.
  • Works in full compliance with approved safety regulations.
  • Manages the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to minimize downtime.
  • Identifies and repairs problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts.
  • Dismantles older machines and replaces them with new ones.
  • Oversees preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn-out pieces, and lubricating mechanical parts.
  • Uses machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts.
  • Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers.
  • Aligns machines and equipment using reverse alignment methods.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Performs all work in a safe and efficient manner and keeps the work area clean and orderly.
Qualifications

Preferred: 4 years of work experience as an industrial plant mechanic or completion of a curriculum closely related to plant mechanic work from a vocational institution with 2 years of experience.

Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements
  • Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically through DocuSign.
  • May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions.
  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
  • Must have full range of motion consistent with age.
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job-related noises.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Safety/Steel toe shoes are required.
