About Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a prominent 889-bed non-profit teaching hospital located in Los Angeles, California. Our Department of Pharmacy consists of approximately 450 dedicated staff members who deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, including two cancer centers and three outpatient pharmacies. We prioritize the education and training of pharmacists, students, residents, and other healthcare professionals, offering residency programs and experiential learning opportunities.
Role Responsibilities
As a hybrid Oncology Pharmacist at the Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, you will provide extensive direct patient care to individuals diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, and other cancers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Therapeutic drug monitoring and management of adult patients.
- Reviewing chemotherapy orders and overseeing sterile compounding activities.
- Providing drug information and optimizing drug therapy.
- Participating in the review of research protocols and managing research medications.
- Supporting the development and updates of oncology diagnosis-related group guidelines.
- Presenting quarterly summaries at Oncology P&T subcommittee meetings.
- Educating patients and following up with the oral chemotherapy specialty pharmacy program.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited pharmacy school in the USA.
- Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.
- BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure.
Additional Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology related to drug usage.
- Understanding of common disease states and pathologies.
- Ability to assess and apply pharmacological principles in clinical settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competency in pharmaceutical calculations, compounding, and pharmacokinetics.
- Adaptability to change and prioritization of workflow.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials up to 40 pounds for short distances.
