Job Description

Mirion Technologies (Canberra), Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our systems team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and deploy new and existing Windows-based software systems and drivers.
  • Participate in problem definition, software planning, and design, including code reviews.
  • Assist in software releases and development of project deliverables, including procedures and test plans.
  • Evaluate new technologies and implement improvements to existing Windows-based technologies and applications.
  • Develop GUI mockups, prototypes, and proof of concepts as needed.
  • Produce complete software lifecycle supporting documentation, such as requirements, user stories, specifications, design, and test plans.
  • Participate in installation and commissioning activities as assigned.
  • Work closely with customers, physics, and/or manufacturing teams for testing, troubleshooting, and developing solutions.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, physicists, and customers for problem definition, requirements gathering, implementation, testing, and software release.
Requirements
  • Experience developing and working with real-time systems.
  • Detail-oriented, forward-thinking individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and write technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of Service-Oriented-Architecture (SOA), object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and successfully manage executing multiple projects and/or rapidly changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in communication and networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, sockets, and RS-485.
  • Background in scientific fields, such as physics or nuclear engineering.
  • Mastery of mathematics.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline and 10+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience with common languages/technologies, such as C/C++, .NET, C#, WCF, ADO.NET, VC, VB, MFC, COM, Win32 API.
  • Proficiency with development tools, such as Visual Studio, Jira, NUnit, DevOps, SQL, XML, GIT.
  • Experience with virtual environments and database technologies, such as ADO, MS Access, SQL Language.
  • Expertise in build and installation tools, such as VisualBuild, Installshield.
  • Systems integration experience, including all phases of the software/system development life cycle.
