Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant to provide instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and be able to reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests, and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher.
- Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise.
- Administer, proctor, and correct tests.
- Perform additional duties as discussed in detail during the interview.
- One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.
- Possession of a current certificate issued by the NYS Education Department in one of the following:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate;
- Pre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate;
- Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant;
- Provisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate.
- Employees must maintain New York State certification as listed above in order to continue employment with New York State.
This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
