Role Overview:

As a member of Confluent's Federal Site Reliability Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-performance, dependable systems that empower public sector agencies to make timely decisions based on their data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Cloud Architecture and Engineering teams to enhance the operational resilience of Confluent Cloud systems utilized by federal agencies.
- Work across teams to validate and implement production changes to Confluent Cloud systems and infrastructure.
- Engage actively with peer engineering teams during incidents, ensuring compliance with federal data handling standards.
- Maintain essential monitoring tools for triage and escalation in the federal sector, while improving automated recovery processes.
- Follow established incident and change management protocols, driving continuous enhancements.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required to comply with federal regulations.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Cloud Native technologies with experience managing production services in cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of Distributed Systems and their architecture.
- Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
- Experience with telemetry tools for monitoring production systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot critical services.
- Proficient in scripting and automation languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code practices (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Pulumi).
- Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.
- Experience with a rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 support.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Compensation and Benefits:
Confluent is committed to offering competitive compensation and benefits aligned with industry standards. This position offers an estimated annual salary of $145,440, along with an annual bonus and a competitive equity package. Actual pay may vary based on skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. We also provide a comprehensive range of employee benefits.
