Purpose of Classification:
The objective of this role is to ensure cleanliness and upkeep of municipal buildings and facilities. This is a full-time position assigned to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:
The following tasks are typical for this position. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Additional responsibilities may be required and assigned.

1. **Custodial Duties:**
- Conduct thorough cleaning of City-owned buildings and facilities, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and/or shampooing various surfaces in hallways, offices, restrooms, kitchens, and public areas.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces; clean and disinfect bathrooms and public facilities; replenish soap and paper products.

2. **Waste Management:**
- Empty trash and recycling containers, replace liners, and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
- Transport trash to designated receptacles and maintain cleanliness of waste containers.

3. **Routine Maintenance:**
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, patching walls, and caulking.

4. **Building Security:**
- Ensure security of facilities by turning off unused lights and equipment, locking doors, and managing alarm systems.

5. **Courier Services:**
- Provide delivery services for mail and packages between City departments and facilities.

6. **Event Preparation:**
- Assist in setting up facilities for special events, including moving furniture and arranging seating.

7. **Safety Compliance:**
- Adhere to safety protocols, report unsafe conditions, and utilize safety equipment as necessary.

8. **Inventory Management:**
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, initiating requests for replenishment as needed.

9. **Documentation Processing:**
- Handle various documentation related to departmental operations, ensuring timely processing and record-keeping.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of experience in routine facilities maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Specific License or Certification Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in performing essential functions and the ability to learn and apply all City or departmental policies and procedures necessary for effective job performance.

Physical and Environmental Factors:
This role may require moderate physical effort, including climbing, balancing, and prolonged standing, with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dust, odors, and hazardous materials.
