ICMS is seeking a seasoned Civil Engineer to deliver design and project management expertise to the U.S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit (CEU). The role involves crafting shore infrastructure maintenance, construction, enhancement, and modification projects to support the organization’s acquisition goals. CEU Miami is responsible for a wide array of services related to Coast Guard shore facilities and fixed navigation aids across various geographical regions.

This position will provide civil engineering services essential for the administrative, professional, and technical support required for effective design project management, aligning with CEU Miami's overarching objectives. Key deliverables will include engineering calculations, design documentation, and construction management assistance, along with associated tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver civil engineering services in alignment with projects outlined in the Advanced Acquisition Plan and other related initiatives.
  • Develop design documents and scopes of work for Architectural and Engineering services, Design/Build services, and construction tasks. This includes creating drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and other necessary documentation for complex construction endeavors across diverse climatic and environmental conditions.
  • Conduct site investigations to collect vital data for new or renovation projects.
  • Provide in-house civil and structural engineering guidance and evaluations.
  • Maintain the enterprise database system for budgeting, project execution, and construction submittal assessments.
  • Collaborate with site contacts and multi-disciplinary design team members.
  • Facilitate conceptual design meetings with internal and site personnel.
  • Support architectural and engineering designers in Coast Guard-specific project documentation tasks.
  • Review and provide feedback on submittals, requests for information, and work schedules from construction contractors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a valid professional civil or structural engineering license in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer or equivalent industry-standard professional licensure.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the civil engineering sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, CAD, and relevant database programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in civil engineering principles, concepts, and practices, including the ability to prepare plans, specifications, and perform structural calculations.
  • Ability to create designs and calculations in accordance with national building and seismic codes, adhering to Coast Guard guidelines.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects related to real property facilities.
  • Competence in planning, designing, cost estimating, and overseeing individual construction projects.
  • Knowledge of current construction building codes, procedures, practices, materials, and equipment.
