Job Summary

The Emergency Department Technician plays a vital role in providing nursing care by performing basic patient care activities and related support services as delegated by the licensed nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the provision of nursing care to patients in the emergency department
  • Perform basic activities of patient care, including vital signs, wound care, and medication administration
  • Assist licensed nurses with patient care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure effective patient care
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or completion of a nurse assistant program or minimum 1-2 years' experience
  • EMT certification or documented experience as a military medic
  • Successful completion of fundamentals of nursing course
  • American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Physical Demands

The Emergency Department Technician must be able to stand, sit, and walk frequently, and use hands and fingers occasionally. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment

The Emergency Department Technician may be exposed to infectious specimens, diseases, and soiled laundry, but potential for personal harm or injury is limited when proper safety and health precautions are followed.
