This role involves collaboration with engineering teams to produce, modify, and maintain dies, jigs, fixtures, and special tooling specific to the production of aerospace & defense components. As a Precision Aerospace Tooling Specialist, you will have extensive experience in precision tool and die fabrication, maintenance, and repair ensuring the highest quality standards required in the aerospace & defense industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture, modify, and maintain precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Operate various machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machinery to produce high-precision aerospace parts.
  • Inspect finished tools and dies using precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure they meet tight aerospace tolerances and specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning dies, tools, and fixtures to minimize production downtime.
  • Perform regular maintenance on tools, dies, and machinery to ensure operational efficiency and longevity.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool modifications, repairs, and updates, ensuring traceability and compliance with aerospace & defense industry standards.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations specific to the aerospace & defense industry.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or a degree in Tool and Die Making, Machining, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker, preferably in the aerospace or precision manufacturing industries.
  • Expert level reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Strong experience setting up and operating manual and CNC machining equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of various metals and alloys used in aerospace & defense tool and die making.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Expert attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to problem solve autonomously or with a team.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or similar aerospace quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard safety practices and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Compensation: The estimated salary for this role is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on industry-specific experience and location. Compensation may vary depending on individual qualifications and performance.
