About the Role:

Expert Staffing West is seeking an experienced Master Fabricator to join a manufacturing team in Mentor, Ohio.

Estimated Salary: $25-$30 per hour

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with metal fabrication and a strong understanding of TIG welding principles. Key responsibilities include:

  • Joining metal parts by precision welding them in various positions, such as flat, vertical, or overhead.
  • Utilizing safety gear and adhering to safe working practices.
  • Preparing and securing components before assembly using tools like straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
  • Inspecting and measuring workpieces for defects to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Setting up and operating welding tools and equipment, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding tools.
  • Welding different metals, including aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys, either separately or together.
  • Positioning and securing parts by clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, grinding, or bolting.
  • Choosing and installing the appropriate torches, tips, filler rods, and flux based on welding chart specifications or the types and thicknesses of the metals.
  • Igniting torches or starting power supplies and initiating arcs by touching electrodes to metals to complete electrical circuits.
  • Adjusting gas flow and pressure by connecting and turning regulator valves to achieve the desired flames.
  • Selecting the necessary equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Monitoring welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
  • Using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to join metal segments through processes like gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan welding operations.
  • Marking or tagging materials with job numbers, piece marks, and other required identifiers.

  • A minimum of one year's experience in metal fabrication within a manufacturing environment, or equivalent training/education.
  • Strong knowledge of TIG welding principles and effective communication skills.
