We are seeking highly qualified candidates for three Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow positions in Liberal Studies at New York University Arts and Science. The successful candidates will teach two courses each semester in the Core Curriculum, work closely with a Faculty Mentor, and contribute to the diversity and excellence of the Liberal Studies community.
Key Responsibilities- Teach two courses each semester in the Core Curriculum
- Work closely with an assigned Faculty Mentor
- Attend pedagogy workshops to explore innovative approaches to interdisciplinary global teaching
- Have the opportunity to lead faculty development workshops or host program-wide events in their area of scholarly, creative, or pedagogical expertise
- Ph.D. in Economics for the PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS position
- Ph.D. in Writing Studies, Creative Writing, Rhetoric, Journalism, Translation Studies, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field for the WRITING positions
- Successful candidates must have a PhD conferred by the date of appointment, or have received the PhD no more than three years before the date of appointment
- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching required; some college-level teaching experience, and evidence of outstanding scholarship and relevant professional activity are desirable
- Ability to teach Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics to undergraduate students in a liberal arts setting
- Ability to apply theoretical analysis to real-world events in lectures and demonstrate commitment to a collegial and inclusive classroom
- Ability to conduct research on significant global economic challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective
- Specialization in TESOL/ESOL/ESL and/or environmental writing
- Annual base salary of $60,000
- Opportunity to work in a dynamic liberal arts curriculum that provides a global and interdisciplinary foundation for nearly 100 NYU majors
- Close faculty-student interaction and small seminar-style classes
