Key Responsibilities:

The estimating department is tasked with generating project-specific construction estimates based on client instructions, both written and verbal. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing accurate and timely electrical construction estimates to support competitive bids and proposals.
  • Analyzing and interpreting detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Identifying and pricing value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
  • Conducting budget pricing from schematic drawings and narratives.
  • Drafting scope letters, proposals, and vendor solicitations.
  • Participating in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and collaborations with clients and design professionals.
  • Maintaining composure and efficiency under deadline pressures.

Additional Essential Functions:

  • Collaborating with other estimators, project managers, and project engineers on change orders and cost-to-complete estimates for ongoing projects.
  • Assisting in the development and communication of company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specifications work.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; additional education or experience in estimating, construction management, finance, business administration, or related fields is preferred.
  • Knowledge of code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations, such as voltage drop and conduit fill, is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in software including Microsoft Project, Excel, Office, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative team player who is self-motivated and works well with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of organizing and tracking project information effectively.
  • Able to perform calculations accurately.
  • Possesses sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Willingness to consider candidates with commercial electrical experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Dependent upon experience

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Travel Requirements:
This position will be based out of our Sioux Center, IA office and may involve occasional travel to job sites as needed.
